The Hottest Rivalry B/W India Versis Zimbabwe
The T20 India In Zimbabwe 2024 was one of the most hottest rivalry between these two teams. Although all five matches from the series were next level and compiled with loads of enjoyment, the third match in the series was nail biting and we are going to take it through our experience.
India Taking The Trophy
Shubman Gill played the classic anchor role. Rituraj Gaikwad caused havoc at No. 4. And Washington Sundar proved that even simple off-spin can change the game. After all this, India took a big step towards winning the five-match T20 series against Zimbabwe and won the third match by 23 runs to take a 2-1 lead. Gill, opening the batting, scored 66 off 49 balls and his partner Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 36 off 27 balls, helping Gaikwad to score 49 off 28 balls, helping India to score 182 for 4.
Washington then took three wickets, including two in his first over, and ended Zimbabwe’s chances of a comeback. Zimbabwe managed to stave off the inevitable thanks to a brilliant half-century from Dion Myers, his first in T20s, and his 77-run partnership with Clive Madden. Zimbabwe lost their way and then it was too late.
Zimbabwe’s Lost Of Path
Tadiwanashe Marumani replaced Innocent Kaia, who had a neck injury, and got off to a great start. He hit two boundaries in the first over bowled by Khaleel Ahmed – replacing Mukesh Kumar – but fell trying to do the same in his next over. From the other end, Avesh Khan first dismissed Madhevere, who took a single to short cover, and then Brian Bennett, thanks to a brilliant flying catch at backward point by Ravi Bishnoi.
When Raza crossed the line to hole out at deep square-leg off Washington’s second ball, it looked like victory was certain. It got better for India – and worse for Zimbabwe – when substitute fielder Riyan Parag was caught at slip by Johnathan Campbell four balls later off Washington. But Myers and Madande had other plans. India’s decision to include all their T20 World Cup returnees left them with very few bowling resources.
As a result, Abhishek and Shivam Dube had to bowl four overs. Myers and Madande did not let them settle down and smashed six fours and two sixes off their deliveries. India scored 50 runs in those four overs. These last overs made India pick up the Cup and win the series!
